Against all medical advise.

Why don't we just shorten Valentines Day to just, "Hey Honey happy V.D.!" Then give up the kisses and flowers?

Which is why I was thinking about depression.

It seems that on Holidays people get depressed. On Valentines day because they have no Valentine, on Christmas because their family hates them, or on Presidents day because their credit cards are maxed out. Whatever, people get depressed.

It is because of this I think we need an official National Depression Day. We can't call it a holiday because holidays are suppose to be fun. So maybe we can call it a Un-holiday or Non-holiday.
To make it legal we can just call it a National Sick Day, or Breakdown Day or some kind of Mental Breakdown Day.

On this day we should recognize depression and make the most of it. Stay in bed all day, unless staying in bed makes us happy. So we need to do things that make us depressed all day. Now this may sound like it is against all medical advise, and it is. But, I think there could be benefits. Like after being depressed for 24 hours, maybe the day after the Depression Day might make us think. Well today has to be better than being depressed for 24 hours. It is just a thought.

What if I was going somewhere and someone else got there before I did. What if I did not know the person who got there first? That would make me wonder, "Did they go there for the same reason or some other reason?" They might be wondering something too.

Well that just makes me think that if the Depression Day doesn't work out maybe the Paranoia day would.

ha! I bet you anything that everyone would be extremely happy on Depression day, since happy days are so depressing. I know I'd love to just lay in bed all day.

You know, there is nothing like enjoying VD when you are divorced, alone, and depressed. Some holidays are just plain mean.

Hi Chumly, and happy VD!

I'm rather glad you popped by to see me, as I think you are rather amusing and you have made me think...

How would I spend 24 hours being depressed?

I couldn't stay in bed all day, that would make me far too happy.

I would get up at 5.30am and listen to The Corrs and Dido all morning. I would find out that Elvis actually really did die and to get over the shock I would go and make coffee just to find I have none. I might have to walk somewhere instead of drive, perhaps to a Gym?
Then I would watch some 'reality TV shows' followed by some Alcohol Free Wine, then drift off to sleep listening to some hip hop!

Nice to meet you!

Thanks for your comment on my blog on this depressing day. I am boycotting Valentine's Day and will be out buying boxes of chocolates to gorge on in protest. Ciao from Canada.

hey chumly! I like the name :) Thanks for the comment on my blog...I guess there are many more 'weirdly' funny people like us right? :D

Enjoyed some of your posts. And this Depression Day? I think that will not end up to be a depressing day since 'fun' Days are depressing, so 'Sad' Days will make us otherwise!

How about National Simply Couldn't Be Arsed Day? It's a lot like National Depression Day in that you get to stay in bed and do a lot of not much at all, but it has the added bonus of you feeling perfectly happy while you're doing it. There are many mornings when I simply couldn't be arsed; by declaring it a holiday, I wouldn't be inclined to momentary (and, admittedly, only momentary) pangs of guilt. It's a win-win situation, really. Say it loud, say it proud: I simply couldn't be arsed today!

You have too much snow out there, too? Too much snow and cold can turn a mind to what you've been thinking! Cheer up, Spring is right around the corner!

Totally agreed. Let's vote for a world Depression Day. Funny Article though. You can count me as a regular reader from now on. :)

Depression Day should be celebrated the shortest day of the year...is that Dec.21?

And as my mother used to say when I asked about Mother's day and Father's day, and why there was no Kid's day..."Everyday is kid's day!", she would respond.

Well, I think that answer would better apply to "Paranoia Day".

All days would be fine with all people if only they didn't make sucha big deal out of it. Valentine's Day annoys me cuz of the marketing gimmicks & "combo" deals at the local food joints tell me that I'm supposed to sit in some coffee house this day feeling all lovey dovey & silly. That gets to me.

A Depression Day is a good idea. In bed all day feeling sick & bored... I know I would enjoy that. Oh crap but we can't do it if it's enjoyable, can we. Pff.

Thanks for dropping by my blog :)
