Christmas Birthdays.

In one of the bible verses Jesus told the apostles.  I did not mind being born on Christmas Day.  It was that Easter Holiday that  really killed me.  Then he gave them all a hug.

Fireplace Memories.

I bought a movie of a burning Fireplace to play on my TV during the Holidays.  I tried to return it because no matter how high I turned up the volume on the fireplace movie,  the room never got warmer.  The clerk told me no returns on them.  I just thought I would warn you. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Beautiful Pain.

My mother once told me that when a baby dies a thorn grows on a Rose.  This happens to remind us life is full of both beauty and pain.  We must cherish the beauty and pain.  That way we can appreciate life.
My sister died when she was 21 and there was plenty of Roses for her and my family.  When my Mother passed years later at 79.  It rained Rose Peddles on her resting place.

Family Pictures

My friend honored me by showing family pictures she had.  Unlike today's photo's.  These were old, faded, off color and had a unique quality to them.  Sharing them with me was a specially good time making our relationship closer.  Have old family pictures?  Share them and feel the warmth of friendship.  It is a memory photo you may cherish.

Mrs. Farley.

Mrs. Farley lived in my neighborhood and I was friends with her sons.  Mrs. Farley always welcomed me into her home even if her sons were not there.  She even let me still visit after Jimmy stepped in a  nest and we  brought him to her.   We left him in her kitchen so she could help him with his shirt full of angry Wasps.  Thanks Mrs. Farley.

Extreme Christmas Shopping

A friend of mine was with her daughter and were going to their car to go Christmas Shopping.  A car with a "Hugh" enclosed luggage carrier on the top passed and her daughter remarked, "Wow!  Now that is the way to shop!"

Grabbing the Prize.

Old Merry-Go-Rounds had great animal rides and a golden Ring.  As the Horses and animals went around and up and down.  The people would try to grab a Golden Ring, sticking out of a box of some sort, as they passed it.  One little fellow was observed not grabbing for the ring.  When questioned he said, "I just enjoy the ride."

It is in the stars.

A little boy I know was close to his Grandfather.  His Grandfather was a fixer and was constantly working on cars, his home, helping his neighbors and paying attention to this Grandson.  One day his Grandson had to be told his Grandfather had , "Gone to Heaven to help God fix the stars and keep them shining bright for all to see and enjoy."  This little Grandson got the idea to leave money, cookies and milk for his Grandfather on his Grandfathers Birthday and Christmas.  That way his Grandfather would have the strength and finances to fix the stars.  When asked if he was worried Santa Clause would take the cookies by mistake.  The little Grandson thought a moment then thoughtfully replied.  "No Grandpa was a biker and I don't think Santa would mess with his money, milk or cookies."

Where did the phrase hand out originate?

I donated to a Charity once. I believe the Charity people must have a list of people who fill charitable hands when they are out. Ever since that one donation I have been hounded by charities. I get them, online, in the mail, on the street, TV, radio and at my door. Do not get me wrong charities are good and do help people. Sometime they go a little too far. Like the one I was solicited for the other day. It went like this: Because of Hurricane Sandy, and other disasters, "Pet Rocks" have been washed away, stolen, and abandoned. Please give so these adorable "Pet Rocks" can be returned to their homes, or adopted and get new families. Rocks Association Yonkers Nevada On Wednesday.  Also known as Pray now It was an ad on a Carton of Wine with a picture of a lost or missing "Pet Rock."

Just a simple thought.

I grew up watching Shirley Temple, dance, act, sing and generally make people feel good.  Today children are hostage to Honey Boo Boo.  Which makes me wonder.  Why did the Mayan Calendar not end December 2010?

Jogger Buddy.

A Jogger and his dog were trotting by my home as I was getting my mail.  Both seemed to be smiling which seemed unusual.  I gave a shout out, "I see you and your buddy are out for a run."  The Jogger waved back, Yeah we are."  I had to inform him, "I was talking to the dog."   Joggers are so egotistical.

Atoms

Why are Atoms round?  If Atoms were square would not they be more stronger when they bonded together like bricks on buildings or ancient structures?  Imagine a pyramid made of round bricks.  Maybe Atoms just like their space.

Yeah! Sure. Ok.

Growing up I kept hearing that one day the world would be mine. Yeah right I thought. I was reminded again as I grew older. I thought sure. Then as I grew older yet. I realized that the people telling me this had all passed on. They were right. The world is mine. I almost did not realize it until it was too late. So now I am telling my Grandchildren that the world belongs to them. I just hope I do not die before they realize how true this is. Then maybe they will take better care of their inheritance. Which is what was being passed down to each one of us all along.

Jesus Christ Married?

There is a controversy that Jesus Christ was married.  Since he had to pay for the sins of mankind.  It was an idea.  God decided it was close, but not enough. So he did not get married.

Homeless Season

The Homeless season has started.  The weather is starting to get that Autumn chill and the homeless are starting to check out safe and warm places.  We had a young female crash in our waiting room in the Hospital.  It is a 24 hour open room with free coffee because it is for maternity and welcoming new babies into the world as anxious family members await their birth.  Not a good place because baby security is a priority.  She did manage to stay the night and left early taking her few belongings with her.  I always feel sad because more and more people seem to be homeless.  I read that in early American Colonies the homeless were gathered up in the community and actually auctioned off to the lowest bidder.  They then would have a place to stay and were employed as servants or farm hands to pay for their keep.  The community would help pay for their stay with a small stipend going to the host giving them a place to stay.  Most homeless were considered town idiots and having a low mentality.  Today we have a different system.  Homeless shelters and fast food jobs.  Unfortunately the fast food jobs have been going to former middle class people.

Real Life Live!

There is family that comes to our church that rarely fails to entertain.  The mother looks a lot like "The Nanny" character.  Her husband looks like a TV husband.  They have 3 girls 4 years and up to about 12.
The smallest one is the star of this reality show.  This day the youngest took her one dollar for the collection basket, folded it up, jumped on the church bench, got behind her mother and put the money down her mothers back.  The child then tried to retrieve the dollar.  Unfortunately it fell down her mothers back and the little girl could not get it.  Having a great idea she got off the bench and behind her mother.  With one sweeping motion the small one lifted up her mothers dress to restore the charitable church contribution back to her possession.  The mother shrieked a little, bent over and backwards and pulled her dress back down to a less revealing position.  All done smiles and hugs were given by mother and child as church witnesses smiled and urged out a few chuckles.  Who says church is boring?

My Very Very Bad!

My humblest apologies to T-Mobile.  I did get my rebate and feel terrible I was angry about your services.  The problem was totally on me and I have no excuse.  I did try to call and apologize but could not get the people I talked to due to more error on my part.  So once again T-Mobile accept my apology and I am truly satisfied with your products and services.

Bows

I seem to have observed that the smaller the little girl the bigger the bows in  their hair.  One bow was so big the babies head kind of tilted because of it.  I also noticed that as the girls get bigger the bows get smaller and sometimes disappear altogether.  Maybe we should have an annual bow day!

Where do I Start and Why Can't I finish?

I went to my favorite store Website to check on a small hand held vacuum to keep my keyboard and area around my computer clean.  I found one and it had the warning, "Not in stock at your local store; can only be purchased online."  So I purchased it online.  It only took a few days and I was surprised on how fast I did get it.  I ripped, cut, pulled, and finally cursed open the vacuum in the vacuum sealed packaging.  After tending to my cuts and wounds to my fingers and hands while trying to open said package.  I tried the new Millennium futuristic advanced cleaning item and was surprised how great it sucked up the dust and other dirt particles.  The more I used it the more dust and dirt I was finding.   I noticed little stings on my hand while using the device.  I discovered that the dirt was being sucked in; travelling thru the vacuum and finally escaping thru the vents on the side of the vacuum.  I explored the vacuum, packaging and directions and discovered all the parts were in place and nothing was missing.  Returning it was not an easy task and I will spare you the details.  It was made in China and made me realize the word "filters" may not be in their vocabulary.

Rushing into the Future

I have always wondered why technology has taken off and advanced so far so fast in the last one hundred years. Then all of a sudden technology began taking off really fast in the last 50 years. Well fool me again look how fast technology sped up in the last 25 years. Now it is a daily quick sprint turning into a run . So why does mankind all of a sudden have to advance so quickly into the future? Why now? Is man preparing for a major storm or something. Could some great subconscious mankind reawakening event occur? Maybe it is all those high energy drinks like Rock Star? So what the heck is the rush?

Grandfatherly Advice

When I was ready to get my life on after High School my JaJa, Grandfather, told me these 3 things to help me in my future:

Remember you are a citizen of the United States of America and a person also belonging to the world.

If there was no God we would not be fishing.

Contrary to popular belief Perogies are good for you and your mom makes the best.

Calling friends.

I think my friend just started a shower so it is time I call them.  No I don't plan this.  It seems to just happen.  That is ok,  people know my bath times better than me.  How about you.  Did you ever drop your cell phone while trying to shower?

Attention Please!!!

When I heard the words, "Help!  My organ is on fire!!!!"  My attention was sprung.  As well as all the men sitting in church.  The organ fire was quickly put out.  To ease the anxiety the Choir Director announced, "We are here to celebrate Mass and the burning of the organ in ordinary times."   Who says Roman Catholic Mass is boring?

Where am I ??!!

After volunteering for Ronald McDonald House at the Hospital I was a little hungry.  Forgetting I was wearing my Ronald McDonald shirt I walked into Burger King.  I immediatly ordered a drink.  The waitress looked at me and a little leary and explained that Dunkin Donuts only made what I ordered.  The Dunkin place was next door so I tried to be funny and asked if they could send someone over to the Donut place and get me one.  A few minutes later I was sitting at a table with the manager and he kept asking me if I was ok.  He was also reassuring me help was on the way.  The Ambulance people were very nice and before going with them I asked if I could get something from my car.  They agreed.  As soon as I got in my Yellow VW Bug, I locked the door and headed for home and safety.  Unfortunatley for me the Ambulance that came to "Help" me is located a few doors down from where I live.   They were amused, accepted my apology, and a small donation. I will also be volunteering at the Fire House for the next few fund raisers.  From now on if I have my Ronald McDonald shirt on and I am hungry I go to Wendy's.  Tough getting old.

We are all Athletes!

I think every one tried sports at one time or another.  Some of us went on to greatness; most are fans and have a favorite sports team.  The rest went on to other life things.  In high school I was on the swimming team.  I gained a bit of weight  my senior year and got the nickname Orca Ed.  I won a few races.  The other swimmers were disqualified during the races and I won.  I did get my Letterman Jacket for swimming or being a streatcher bearer for football. Maybe even for losing my trunks during a summer practice. I think it was swimming.  Anyway.  Enjoy the Olympics.

Feeling dirty.

I saw some young tots playing in the dirt near my house.  I kind of envied them.  I am almost sixty.  Maybe I was too old.  What the heck I thought and gave it a try.  Then the one little tyke said, "Hey get your own dirt."  So I did.  You can play in my dirt anytime.  All are invited.  We just have to share our dirt sometimes don't we?

Oh say can you see.

I wanted a 4Th of July subject for my thoughts so I broke my eye glasses. Pretty tricky title. I got out my duck tape and did a temporary fix so I could see. I called numerous eye glass stores and they all said the same thing, "No we cannot get your prescription off your old pair. You need to come in for an eye exam which will cost you a small fee. OK. I made the appointment and off I went. One of the first things they did when I got there was put my glasses in a machine. Pushed some buttons and got the eye glass prescription from my old pair. Without skipping a beat the nurse then told me the doctor would be right with me. Well OK. It was a small fee but still I was a little miffed. After the eye exam the doctor rubbed it in by telling me my old prescription was about the same as my new one would be. All glasses were 40% off. That was just the frame. After adding my bifocals and transition lenses, sun hurts my eyes after an eye operation a few years ago. One pair of glasses were about $450 even after the discount. Which I did not get. I went to another eye glass store taking my new golden prescription with me. Shopping around got me two pair for $195 and because I had my priceless prescription. After about an hour the computer finally started working and 30 minutes after that I paid for my 2 pair of glasses. I will get them in 3 days. A road construction crew held me up in traffic for another hour. I was now late for work at the hospital I spend my employment time in. I got settled in and learned that a newborn was in trouble and may not make it. I can see real clear now. I embraced my life and did the best I could to comfort the distressed family. I realized I have no problems. Oh say can you see. I can.

Dog Sitter

This weekend I have the pleasure of watching my friends dogs while my friends go on a little vacation. I know their pets really well and was around when my friends adopted them. I cannot have a pet where I live and I am lucky to be able to spend time with my friends pets. Although I must admit because of my age I cannot run after cars and cats like I use to. I think these dogs know this because they wait until I catch up after a good chase.

All we need is love.

I like that Beatles song. Most people have the capacity to love and be loved. Sometimes accepting love is not so easy for Men from Mars. Women from Venus sometimes also but women seem to be able to deal with the love better. Women endure love thru bad times more then men it seems. It is sad when people reach a certain age and cannot or will not love anymore. Still. I will stay a Celtics fan even though it still hurts.

Birthday Reminders

I set up a birthday reminder calendar on my computer. It came up my brother-in-laws birthday is June 13. He likes sports and I wrote "Hit a home run on your Birthday." My sister called and thanked me. It is HER BIRTHDAY and I got them mixed up. She is 68 an excited because now she thinks it was code for him to have sex. He is gonna be in for quite a surprise when he comes home from work. He only has a few more months before he retires. I hope he makes it.

Brain updating

Updating a computer is much easier than updating one's brain. Especially when the updating is 5 Grandchildren ranging from 6 months to 17 years. That includes a 3 year old a 11 year old and 13 year old. To make it easier it is simultaneous. 5 updates at once. Male or female does not matter once the update starts it is HD surround-sound at its best. God bless mothers. I decided to let my daughter enjoy Father's day. I give her that day with pleasure. I really loved and enjoyed the whole upgrade experience. My daughter was my only child and when I visit her now with her 5, I realize what a difference it is.

Documentaries

A parent I know has a child that is in the "Why" stage. I just put my inquisitive little one on the computer and he can "Why" all day, boasts this parent. I like the frustrating old fashion one on one personal contact. Although the information on the internet is more accurate than some of the made up answers I give. I rather do this. To save parental face, if I do not know the answers I can distract my son or daughter with ice cream and hugs. Which I also get.

Bi-Racial

I Met a young mother today and her new baby of 5 months. For some reason it was important for her to tell me that the baby was bi-racial. I told her that I was a bi-racial baby also. She looked a little confused so I educated her and relayed that my Father was Polish and my Mother Irish. She quickly and quietly gathered up her child and left. I have a hard time understanding and communicating with young people sometimes.

Were you Slimmed?

A little boy saw his baby brother right after he was born. He noticed the nurses cleaning the newborn and the little boy came to the conclusion his new brother was slimmed. Fascinated he told everyone he met and asked them when they were born were they slimmed? I learn a lot while volunteering in the hospital from kids. As an update to the cement story. After cleaning chunks of cement out of hair. His hair weave was ruined and he now has a new temporary hair piece.

Men in Cement

Men like to build things and make cement floors and sidewalks. One man I know went and got a cement sander, a really good toy for men. He was refinishing his basement and wanted the old floor to look new, clean and smooth. He had a glorious time but in his haste did not use water with the sander and got cement dust all over. Never the less he was proud of his work. He cleaned up his basement and feeling very satisfied with the job done well. He then took a shower to clean himself up. That is when he made a remarkable discovery. When water hits cement dust that is all over ones body it tends to turn into....well cement. The cement sealed his eyes closed and his hair became very brittle and hard. The people at the hospital were very kind to him and he recovered quickly. He admitted his panic when his eyes hardened up and was worried about other openings that might also get clogged with cement. His wife was amused and is happily thinking up as many cement jokes as she can.

I finally was able to get my book  "A Simply Chumly Gift For You" published on Amazon eBook.  I wanted to give them out for free and this is the closest I could do.  If you want.  If not you could use the money to buy your children Pez Candy Dispensers which are good too.

Comments

Thank you to the very very very very very few people that comment on my blog. It takes me awhile to post them because remembering how to do that I need to refresh my mind, which involves a bit of time. So! Sorry for the delay. Anyway. My comment for life is: I enjoy being nice to people because it makes me happy. I try not to be mean or nasty to people because it makes me sad being in the back of that police van. Have a hug.

Billy what are you doing?

Billy is very young and bored in church. So he sticks his hand in the back of his trousers for a scratch or to fix his underpants. Eventually his hand needs company so the other hand dives in and helps whatever is of interest back there. Mom sees this and nudges Billy while whispering a rebuke. Billy complies. Both hands come out. A few minutes later Billy needs a snack and finds some nourishment in his nose which he delivers to his stomach via his mouth. Once again mom is there to acknowledge Billy's behavior. Then the time comes when everyone in church is suppose to offer the sign of peace to the people sitting near them. For some reason no one is shaking Billy's hands but are saying peace to him as they maintain their distance. Billy must be use to this because he smiles and gives them the peace sign and begins to wiggle out a little dance. "Billy what are you doing? Stop that." His mom says to him for about the millionth time. Who says church can't be fun. Not Billy.

I was trying to think about something profound to pass on to you. I zoned off the reality planet while doing this and put my hand in a door being closed. I came up with some pretty profund words while in pain. Please use caution while thinking.

Political Ads

One party runs an ad saying their opponent is dishonest and worse.  The candidate under attack runs an ad saying how dishonest and evil his adversay is.  If both canidates are right does that mean the person that gets elected is truly the lesser of two evils?

Please don't Passover Easter

A little play on holiday words. If Jesus was Jewish does that mean his followers are also Jewish? If so maybe we should combine the holidays. The first half of the Bible is the same for everybody isn't it? So many questions but when I was small the most important one was. "Where did my parents hide that Easter Basket full of candy?" I also learned never to hide chocolate candy in white pants pockets. It will melt and your mom will get mad. Plus I think Chocolate Crosses are creepy and should be banned.

And the answer is, "Don't Panic!"

My volunteering in the hospital keeps getting me closer to the Twilight Zone. I don't mean the Vampire one but the old TV show. I was waiting for the elevator. The door opens and a with child female type person is in a sort of wide eye panic. She looks at me and blurts out, "My water broke in the elevator are you a Doctor?" The baby turned out fine and I should be discharged myself tomorrow. Panic and heart attacks seem to have something in common.

Love Gone By.

I overheard a conversation among a few elderly women. One regretted not staying with a young man she dated in her earlier years and instead married someone else. The other women agreed and started talking about their romantic choices and life's partners. Finally one woman sighed and said, "Well they are all passed away now." Then another reflected, "Yes. We could have been collecting their pensions." It seems the men they married were still living. Such is love.

Nothing to do but wait.

My daughter is a High School teacher and it was the end of the school day. She passed an empty classroom and heard a crash like sound in the same room. She opened the door to find some students helping themselves to various items in this computer room. The got away so she immediately notified security and the principal. Not long after the students were identified and apprehended as they were waiting to board the school bus to take them home. All items were found and returned to the school. Since then all students now have a shorter wait for the buses at the end of a school day. You gotta love teenagers and the way they almost use their thinking abilities.

Keyboored

I am having trouble with my desktop keyboard. I have been going through a lot of keyboards lately. In fact I have bought 3 in the last 6 months. Putting the right pressure on the keys seem to be the problem. Too much pressure and I get nothing or a row of letters like eeeeeeeeeeeeee. To little and I get nothing.

My notebook and netbook does not seem to have this problem. My new desktop keyboard had a small disc in it to install the keyboard. My desktop has the CD/DVD player on the side. So the disc is inserted standing up. Yep. The disk fell out of the player and is now inside my computer. I opened up my computer and the disc is stuck underneath the player which I cannot seem to get at because the manufacturer welded the player instead of securing it with screws.

Any ideas on how to fix this without spending over $100, computer repair estimate, to just get the disc unstuck?

If not that is OK. I feel better just writing about it. So thanks for just reading.

Missed opportunity.

I wanted to have a leap year blog. That would mean I would say something every four years instead of my weekly, well sorta weekly thing. I don't have a lot of fans like the show "Sons of Anarchy." So I decided to just write what I write. Hopefully once in awhile I get a reader and a smile. In order to get that the more I try the better the odds that will happen. Plus a special thanks to the few visitors that visited. If I never got to say thanks that would be a missed opportunity which also made me smile.

Global Warming and Me.

I like global warming. I am getting older and snow shoveling for me just is not that much fun any more. The location where I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania USA, had very little snow this year. Unfortunately activities that need snow like sledding and skiing have suffered. This is bad especially for people that like to get out and enjoy winter. So instead of snow balls I have been getting hit by a lot of rocks this year. The neighborhood kids just have to throw something.

And so the wheel turns.

Sometimes in life the wheel turns. The trick is that one must not get run over by it. There is this older gentleman I have observed. He was not a happy man. He did not like people because they annoyed him. He would yell at them and make angry faces and gestures when they were around him. In church he would not let people sit near him in the same pew. Then the wheel somehow turned. Now he has a wife. Impossible and a shock when I found out. He does not yell at people anymore or make life miserable for them. I did notice his wife reprimand him a few times or constantly it seems. Quite the change in him. He seems humbled. I did notice a slight smile on his face when he looks at her. Happy Valentines Day.

Buggy

One hour before the Super Bowl game. I was thinking about the fact that I was witness to the first Super Bowl game. So again I was looking forward to this exciting time in my life. The Super Bowl Party. I was in work and getting very anxious for my shift to end. Then it happened. I was quarantined. A patient came into the hospital that had bed bugs and other critters that were jumping off and taking a tour of the area I was working in. After taking a shower, washing clothes and spraying I was able to get home but not able to go to the party. There was concern that some of these tiny creatures were football fans and might decide to visit my friends house. I did try to watch the game but I became uneasy and cleaned my car and home just in case I had little friends hiding in my work clothes. After 24 hours the hospital called and cleared me. The area I worked in was cleansed and deemed safe for visitors again. They believed the bugs did not occupy my area after all. Although some were caught in other areas and dispatched to buggy heaven. Life can be very unpredictible when the moon is full on Super Bowl Sunday.

Remember

My blog seems out of date. UTube seems to be the new thing on the Internet. As I think about it. I have been outdated a long long time. That is ok. I talk to my self at home a lot so blogging to my self just seems like the normal thing to do. I remember going to the Post Office and mailing letters I had written to my friends before computers. That was fun. The best thing about computers is emails. I am in touch with many more people becaue of the Internet. Especially spammers and junk emails that fills up my inbox. This is nothing new. I just needed something to blog about because this is the time of year nothing much is happening. No wonder young people drink a lot on Spring Break. These are tough months. Have a hug.

End of the World Resolutions.

Forget the New Year resolutions. This is the year for End of the World resolutions. You have until December. I have an idea people will break up and some will end up more in love. Then there is the, "What happens if I break a resolution?" If you keep it or not the end result is total annilation anyway. I'll just keep up what I am doing. I like my life but am aware it will someday end anyway. Hey! I know lets get some ice cream while we got the time.

Hanging Around.

Today was picture hanging day in work. First time I saw a digital picture frame. A series of pictures flash by making a little art movie on the wall. The one in work is good bcause it shows off our Ronald McDonald Guest House so the pictures are not boring even though repetitive. Progress in home decoration welcome to 2012.

New Shows

Forget the new shows on TV. Forget the new Movies coming out in 2012. Remember the everyday lifetime eposides experienced as you go on with your day. Like the little boy in church that opened his church book. Placed it with the page he needed to be ready for church. Then notice the old Usher going around fixing up the church and putting away the stray books laying around. Watch the Usher as he takes the little boys book off the bench, closes it and puts it back in its proper place. Capture the moment by watching the reaction on the little boys face as this scene unfolds. Then notice the little boy sigh and redo his preperation for the service after the Usher has gone on to another church chore. Or just notice somthing that will enhance your own lifetime observances.

Cancelled

NASA decided the world would continue after 2012. Plus it is a leap year and we have an extra day this year anyway in case NASA is wrong and the world does end. New Years always have me reflecting on all the people that made an impact on my live. Which I did yesterday so there is not much I need to do on that. I am thinking of dropping my questions I ask in my blog this year. What do you think? Should I continue to ask them or not?
